After years of service with the NYPD as a police officer, I decided to chase another dream—to take my drive to improve the lives of others in the healthcare setting. I then entered nursing school. During my clinical studies as a nursing student, I saw the struggles of many medical students when it came to finding safe and stable housing during their short stay clinical rotations. It wasn’t long after that My wife, Orfelina Jorge, a New York City elementary school teacher and I began restructuring parts of our home to accommodate medical students. As demand increased, I decided to leave my nursing studies to make safe and convenient housing for medical students my primary focus—looking after those who look after others.
